Here there and everywhere

I have been neglecting this blog mainly due to having been away travelling to Norway and spending time updating that blog!

I have decided to experiment with resin but it is early days - my first makes are a bit messy - mainly due to the following:
1. I am impatient - this is not a good thing when making anything with resin which seems to take ages to dry (it does)
2. I am messy (not clearing the table before making anything with resin was a wee mistake!)
3. With resin less is more!!! Overfilling bezels makes a mess!!!

In the meantime I have been working on a necklace using a Menagerie Studios Focal of Paris -
And another using a gorgeous Bo Hulley focal
At the moment Xmas orders are coming in - mainly for bag charms- but I am holding a market night next week to showcase all jewellery in stock.

Anyway here are some pics of my resin makes!!

 Market night!!

Autumn

Autumn is definately on its way - it's getting colder and darker.....So I have to get making as soon as I get in from work or it gets too dark to make anything. I have managed to strain my eyes over the past 2 years making jewellery!!

Anyway these are my last few creations. I am still working on my resin projects but it will be a while before I unveil those!!!

These feature work by my favourite designers - Bo Hulley (based in the UK) and JLynnJewels (in the USA)

Both the wings and key necklaces are sold - my mother is after the peacock one but I rather like that for myself!!!!!!

Autumn Design Challenge Reveal

Well mild panic set in as I realised that my pictures are on my phone and if I use my phone I can't add links so I have borrowed my daughter's laptop!!! Lets hope it all works!!!

I hope my designs showcase both Lesley and Caroline's beautiful beads and bronze elements....

I decided that I would only allow myself to use what I had in my stash so here we go....(apologies for the picture quality...everything matches in real life ...)

To see what everyone else has made, here are the links

    Go away autumn....

Everyone seems to be taking great delight on the fact autumn has arrived in the northern hemisphere .... For me it signals the beginning of 6 months of cold and darkness. While I can appreciate those cold crisp blue skied days we have in the UK I don't like the dark.i feel claustrophobic and hemmed in by it and I long for sunshine and warmth...good job we will be emigrating in a few years to
The Southern Hemisphere where I grew up! So on a brighter note here is
    my latest make!!

Using dyed sari cloth, peanut beads and a beautiful Bo Hulley focal it will brighten up my day in the coming months (though yesterday was rather a lovely warm day in the UK!)

    Thursday 12 September 2013

This week I have mainly been experimenting with resin!!

This week I have made this necklace using diamond glaze. The recycled dyed sari material is from Smitten. The flowers are up cycled from an old watch. I also have dark pink and orange ones to play with!!

I am hoping to get some time this weekend to make some more bits and pieces - the job gets in the way in the week!

    Friday 6 September 2013

    My beads are here!!!

My beads have arrived...waiting for some inspiration but I think there may be 3 pieces ~~~ 2 necklaces and a bracelet~~~~ aren't they lovely!!! I am totally smitten with the largest of the beads

    Flowers again!!! Enjoying the garden

Few pics of some pretty things plus our 'keeping the butterflies off our Brussels sprouts invention....'

    New creations

I am hoping to get two collections ready for the end of the month although a quick holiday to Ireland may get in the way!!! Here are a few pictures...

I am still trying to find my own style and must admit at the moment resin is looking like a hot favourite! I love the idea of mixed media and resin is perfect for this. I just need to focus a bit more and stop jumping from one idea to the other without thinking....

As you can probably tell I still havent worked out how to do stuff on here! I think things need rearranging. I am trying to share a link to another blog so will try again to see if i can do it! I have been buying lots of new beads by some amazing artists and i cant wait for them to all arrive....and then i had better get making! I could just end up with the biggest bead hoard in the World if i dont!

    Time travelling - too quickly

I have lots to share - lots of pictures of the lovely flowesr in my garden plus a few holiday pictures from my trip to Switzerland. Not quite sure how to add pictures from my i pad so will have to do that at some point tomorrow...I am just determined to try and keep this blog going! I have been experimenting with some new jewellery making ideas and i am hoping to get two collections out. I love using crystal glaze and am very tempted to try using resin in my designs. I also like the idea of mixed media designs having made quilts in the dim and distant past. I have bought some new art beads and am awaiting two deliveries from the USA as well as some beads by UK artists. They are all by well known artists and i am very excited to be using their beads in my work. I am also comissioned a polymer clay artists to work on some of my design ideas...all so exciting for me! I am hoping when i win the lottery to do this full time! One of my main problems though is my inability to keep to one idea and my mind jumps all over the place. I have decided to make up a design pad so i can keep track of my ideas...this may slow me down and prevent there being about 20 things on the go at once! Anyway pics to follow of flowers and all things nice

    Sunday 28 July 2013

    more flower pictures!!

still cant get them the right way around lol!!!!!!!!!!!!

    flowers, sales and birthdays!

Well I have been busy for the past few days taking photographs for my sale album which I will post on Monday evening at 8pm (GMT)...having 6 weeks off work is such a luxury that I also have been able to do a little cooking. I have a wonderful vegetable garden and lots of recipes so I made a couple of tarts in the week... My lilies are doing well and though being battered by the wind are lovely (and smelly) I have cut 4 flowers for a vase in my living room and I am nearly being knocked out my the aroma! I think some of the pictures may be wonky.... We are nearly in August and as well as going on a wee holiday it is a month with a few birthdays! My godson, one of my closest friends and my baby sister so I have been trying to think of original presnts made by people with little businesses rather than massive ones! Pics to follow when they all arrive ---- 2 from the USA.... I have also entered a jewellery competition on FB on a closed group - didnt win but was good to get creative with the same beads as everyone else and see what they came up with - this is my entry...
